چکیده

In this paper we consider the problem of scheduling n jobs such that makespan is minimized. It is assumed that the jobs can be divided into K job-classes and that the change-over time between two consecutive jobs depends on the job-classes to which the two jobs belong. In this setting, we discuss the one machine scheduling problem with arbitrary processing times and the parallel machines scheduling problem with identical processing times. In both cases it is assumed that the number of job-classes K is fixed. By using an appropriate ∗Corresponding author.

Three Hybrid Metaheuristic Algorithms for Stochastic Flexible Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with Preventive Maintenance and Budget Constraint

Stochastic flexible flow shop scheduling problem (SFFSSP) is one the main focus of researchers due to the complexity arises from inherent uncertainties and also the difficulty of solving such NP-hard problems. Conventionally, in such problems each machine’s job process time may encounter uncertainty due to their relevant random behaviour. In order to examine such problems more realistically, fi...

Exact and Approximation Algorithms for the Operational Fixed Interval Scheduling Problem

The Operational Fixed Interval Scheduling Problem (OFISP) is characterized as the problem of scheduling a number of jobs, each with a fixed starting time, a fixed finishing time, a priority index, and a job class. The objective is to find an assignment of jobs to machines with maximal total priority. The problem is complicated by the restrictions that: (i) each machine can handle only one job a...

Start Project Y43-mat Combinatorial Approximation Algorithms Minimizing the Number of Tardy Jobs on a Single Machine with Batch Setup times Minimizing the Number of Tardy Jobs on a Single Machine with Batch Setup Times

This paper investigates a single-machine sequencing problem where the jobs are divided into families, and where a setup time is incurred whenever there is a switch from a job in one family to a job in another family. This setup only depends on the family of the job next to come and hence is sequence independent. The jobs are due-dated, and the objective is to nd a sequence of jobs that minimize...

Three Algorithms for Flexible Flow-shop Scheduling

Scheduling is an important process widely used in manufacturing, production, management, computer science, and so on. Appropriate scheduling can reduce material handling costs and time. Finding good schedules for given sets of jobs can thus help factory supervisors effectively control job flows and provide solutions for job sequencing. In simple flow shop problems, each machine operation center...

Tactical fixed job scheduling with spread-time constraints

We address the tactical fixed job scheduling problem with spread-time constraints. In such a problem, there are a fixed number of classes of machines and a fixed number of groups of jobs. Jobs of the same group can only be processed by machines of a given set of classes. All jobs have their fixed start and end times. Each machine is associated with a cost according to its machine class. Machine...
